What is the revenue split?
Artists receive a 20% royalty on all sales of their prints. This reflects the fact that Make–Ready Editions covers all production, fulfilment, customer service, marketing, and operational costs, allowing artists to generate ongoing passive income without any upfront investment or inventory risk. Royalties are reported and paid monthly, together with a sales statement showing cumulative sales and royalties earned to date.
How are sales reported and how does invoicing work?
We provide artists with a monthly sales statement showing cumulative sales and royalties due. Once the statement has been issued, artists can submit an invoice for the royalty amount, and payment will be processed accordingly.
What rights does the artist retain over the artwork?
The artist retains full ownership and copyright of the artwork. Make–Ready is granted a licence solely for the production, promotion, and sale of the agreed print.
Is the image license exclusive or non-exclusive?
Our licensing agreements are non-exclusive, meaning artists retain the freedom to exhibit, sell, and license their work elsewhere. That said, we've found that works created specifically for Make–Ready Editions, or images that have not previously been released as prints, often perform particularly well with collectors, as we are able to position them as exclusive print releases.
How long does the licensing agreement last?
The licensing agreement remains in place unless terminated by either party. We aim to build long-term relationships with artists, but the agreement can be ended at any time upon written notice.
What marketing and promotional activities do you run for a new print launch?
We support every release through a combination of email marketing, social media promotion, paid advertising, and placement across the Make–Ready website. We also provide artists with marketing assets to help promote their editions through their own channels, as we've found that collaborative promotion often leads to the strongest results.
What is the expected timeline for the collaboration?
Timelines vary depending on the stage of the artwork and how quickly selections are finalised. Artwork selection can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, particularly if new work is being developed or prepared for print. Once works have been selected, production, campaign planning, and launch preparation typically take around six weeks.
