Charlotte Trounce paints from Edinburgh, where a slower pace and close proximity to nature have become central influences on her practice. Working in oil pastel and oil paint, she returns again and again to trees, light and shadow, increasingly painting from memory rather than photographs. Inspired in part by watching her daughter draw with an instinctive, unstudied freedom, Charlotte strives for that same immediacy in her own work, creating paintings that are evocative, expressive and vibrant.
