British fantasy illustrator Ian Miller has spent over five decades building a gothic, dreamlike mythology of his own, from Tolkien-inspired bestiaries and Fighting Fantasy gamebook covers to Games Workshop's Warhammer universe and concept work for films including Wizards and MirrorMask.

Working in his signature "Tight Pen Style" of pen, ink, and watercolour wash, he draws on the myths, monsters, and nightmares of Northern European tradition, filtered through influences ranging from Dürer to the German Expressionists.

Now based in Brighton, he continues to surface the deep archetypes (gnarled trees, decay, impermanence) that have run through his imagined worlds since the 1970s.
