Sarah Sullivan Sherrod
Working from her home studio in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sully Sherrod brings weaving and painting together to create playful, rhythmic compositions. Each work begins on a four-harness floor loom, where handwoven cotton and cottolin become the foundation for painted acrylic and inlaid, unpainted forms. Her process is guided by play and improvisation, often setting herself simple rules inspired by the structures of sports and games. Working with two colours at a time, Sherrod creates lively visual exchanges that draw on the influence of artists such as Anni Albers and Sophie Taeuber-Arp, while remaining distinctly her own: playful, meditative and open to interpretation.
